Masterson’s Tavern , nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my most recent experience at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I found behind its entrance was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.

From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was clear that hygiene was not a priority at this establishment . The floors were sticky , and a overpowering stench of uncleaned spills and uncleaned toilets permeated the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , decay and illness . The main bar, which should be the primary feature of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . As I looked into it more , I was appalled to find reports against him involving sexual harassment , with multiple women reporting interactions of harassing a post them digitally. Described as overly aggressive and inappropriate , his behavior has created an unsafe environment for women who patronize Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often here felt more like that of a lurking threat than a friendly owner .
